![]() Below is the OFFICIAL Amazon listing for buying an EzCap.įor convenience, here's the official listing for this device.ġ) Always read on the official website for official alternate ways to order the product, if the normal online ordering doesn't work.Ģ) Some Chinese knockoffs are VERY close to the product they are a knockoff of, so always check item details VERY closely. If you want to capture your favorite TV program right to your computer without any kind of fancy video card, usbfever has the answer. It also has a link that takes you to their official eBay store, but I think the person typo'd who typed the price when creating the product listing on Ebay, because it says it's over $100 on Ebay, but not on Amazon. This takes you to a page that lets has a link that takes you to their official store, where you can buy the official product. Remember what I said about them not shipping to the USA when ordering from the official website? Well today, after looking back at the official EzCap website, I noticed something I had overlooked before, a link that says USA Orders. I somehow overlooked the fact that it was missing the ".tv" on the label when I first bought it. Actually not 100% identical, because closer inspection shows that where it normally says "" on the case, on the knockoff it said "ezcap". ![]() The physical device has a case that is 100% IDENTICAL to that of the official one. ![]() This confirms 100% that what I bought was FAKE! And it was a PERFECT fake too, at least cosmetically. Unfortunately, when I tested the official driver from it did not work, but when I tested the driver that came on the CD that shipped with the device, it did work. This would tell me for sure, whether or not it was fake. Suspicious that I may have purchased a really well-made fake product, I decided to try the driver that can be downloaded from rather than the one supplied on the CD that came with the product I'd purchased. Usually, a manual will list the website you can go to for product support. In fact, there was no support website listed at all. Furthermore, the manual didn't list as a site you could go to for product support. The manual that came with my product though, looks like it was a poorly translated one, like what you tend to get with Google Translate. Usually, a legitimate electronics company (even if they outsource their manufacturing to China, and even if the original manual is written in Chinese) will hire a professional translator, to make sure that the English written in the version of the manual is written in correct English. Such poorly translated manuals are typical of those that come with knockoff products. It had very poorly written English, typical of manuals that were originally written in Chinese, and then poorly translated to English. However, when it finally arrived, something looked a bit off, in the manual that came with it. Confident that it was not a fake, I bought it. Typically, there will be SOMETHING different between a knockoff, and a real device, even if only a slight difference, but I saw no difference at all, so I assumed it was real. I compared every detail on each image of the device, down to the font used to write the name of the device on the case, and making sure that there were no more, and no fewer, words or other graphics on the case of the device in the Ebay auction than in the one from the official website, I determined that the one on ebay was official, albeit probably a used one, rather than new. ![]() To make sure I wasn't getting a fake I checked the picture on the Ebay auction, and also the picture of the device on the official website. After trying repeatedly to buy from website and each time saying that they don't ship to the USA, I gave up and tried to buy from ebay.
